Take a private tour to see the Black Eagles with Eagle Eye Safaris’ Wildlife Photo Safari Guide, Ernest Porter.
Let Ernest guide you on a private day-trip Black Eagles and birding photography tour of the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Hike up the hill to ethically observe and photograph the nesting, mating and chick-rearing behavior of the iconic Verreaux’s Eagles: the Black Eagles of Roodekrans. Afterwards, Ernest will guide you through the Gardens to photograph other African birds. You might see Ibis, Hoopoe, weavers, Peregrine Falcons, barbets, herons, cuckoos, nightjars, swifts, and many more bird species.
Ernest is a staff photographer for the Black Eagles Project, a conservation effort to protect these magnificent raptors. In this series, you’ll see photos of the eagles nest-building, bathing, and defending the nest. Ernest’s shot of female eagle Emoyeni with a branch, looking like a quidditch player, is an Africa Geographic award-winning published photo. Gorgeous shots of colorful juvenile Black Eagles are a highlight. Dramatic photos of the adult birds teaching the juvenile fledgling to defend itself, and beautiful photos of the Black Eagles doing what they do best, flying, round out this special gallery grouping.
Would you like to learn how to take sharp photos of birds in flight or sharp panning shots? You should join us on a wildlife photo safari where we can focus on those particular skills.
